Raj Govt to undertake survey for assessing crop damage: Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today ordered authorities to immediately undertake survey to assess damage to crops due to excessive/untimely rains and assured farmers that government would provide appropriate compensation for the damage on the basis of the survey. Addressing a public congregation after launching Janani Shishu Surakshya (Mother-Child Safety) Scheme in Dudu town near here, Mr Gehlot said during his visits to different places in the State, he had gathered reports on damage to crops like maize, moong and Millet due to untimely/excess rains in some pockets. The Chief Minister ordered District Collectors and other officials concerned to immediately undertake the survey and assess the damage to crops after Congress State President Dr Chandrabhan, sitting MP Lal Chand Kataria raised the demand for compensation at the function. Mr Gehlot said, The monsoon this year is very good and even if the rains caused damages to the crop, the government would certainly come to the rescue of farmers. Therefore, there should be nothing to worry . Earlier, Dr Chandrabhan, Mr Kataria and other leaders in their speeches had demanded appropriate compensation to farmers for the crop loss.
